Preview: Week of 2/8/2016

Friday and Saturday of this week, 11 of our wrestlers will be competing in the Individual Sectional Tournament at Bolingbrook High School, vying for a top-four finish to qualify them for the Individual State Tournament.  Brackets have already been released on TrackWrestling, and barring any injuries/weight issues, no changes are expected.  Friday's action is slated to begin a bit earlier than we're used to - at 4:30pm.  On Saturday, the Session II begins at 9:00am, while Session III begins at 2:00pm.

For those who cannot make it, follow us on twitter for live coverage!  The tournament will also be covered on TrackWrestling.  Click here for the direct link.

Recap of Our Week

This past weekend marked the start of the state series - the beginning of the end of the season.  We hosted the regional tournament, which we won by just over 60 points, scoring 209.5 team points.  In doing so, we qualified 11 wrestlers to this week's sectional tournament.  Brandon Ramos (126), Shayne Oster (145), Trevell Timmons (152), and Ronald Tucker, Jr. (285) all brought home regional championships.  Abdullah Assaf (120), Brendan Ramsey (132), Baylor Fernandes (138), and Chandler Proszek (160) all made it to the finals, but fell a bit short, coming in second place.  Finishing in third for the Porters were Anthony Molton (106), Peyton Fernandes (170), and Nick Dado (182).  Coming up just short in fourth place and becoming alternates for sectionals were Yousif Salah (195) and Dan Stojsavljevic (220).  For a full recap, and photos, click here!

With the regional championship, Lockport again qualifies for the Dual-Team Tournament.  We will be taking on Moline, winners of the Bradley-Bourbonnais regional, in the Dual-Team Sectional meet on Tuesday, February 23.  The dual will be taking place at LaSalle-Peru High School, with the winner (us) advancing to the Dual Team State Tournament.  But, that's a couple of weeks away still...
