SUMMARY

On Thursday evening, Lockport hosted DeKalb High School and came away with its 20th win of the season, defeating the Barbs by a final score of 60-7.  Lockport posted a 12-2 record on the night, including 3 wins by fall and four by technical fall.

The dual began at 113, where 8th ranked Anthony Molton came out and added another fall to his total for the season.  The featured bout of the night, a rematch of last year's IKWF State Finals match between James Pierandozzi and DeKalb's Fabian Lopez, came next, at 120.  Pierandozzi, who came up short against Lopez three times last season, came out firing and took Lopez down to his back within the first minute of the match.  Pierandozzi added two more nearfall points in the first, and took a 7-1 lead into the second.  Lopez earned an escape in the second, putting it at 7-2.  In the third, Pierandozzi earned an escape, and surrendered a takedown with short time remaining, but earning the 8-4 victory nonetheless.

Following the 120 pound bout, Lockport continued to add on to the team score. Matt Kronsbein won by forfeit at 126, while 4th ranked Abdullah Assaf won by technical fall at 132.  Brandon Ramos added a fall at 138, putting Lockport up 26-0.  Matt Mahalik took the mat for the Porters at 145, but suffered an 11-3 major decision loss, putting DeKalb on the board for the first time on the night.  Baylor Fernandes recouped those points and more, as the 3rd ranked wrestler at 145 bumped up to 152 and picked up a 16-0 technical fall.  At 160, Malik Daghash came out for the Porters, but took a 7-3 loss, in what would be the final victory on the night for DeKalb.

Lockport would close out the night picking up six straight victories.  Nick Dado earned a narrow 8-7 decision over DeKalb's Blah Danweih at 170.  Lockport then had three wrestlers bump up a weight.  Chandler Proszek, HM at 170, won by fall at 182.  Payton Fernandes, ranked 8th at 182, won by injury default at 195, midway through the second period.  Yousif Salah, HM at 195, added a 10-1 major decision at 220.  At 285, 2nd ranked Ronald Tucker came out more aggressive than he has been since Fargo this summer, picking up several big takedowns en route to a 21-5 technical fall.  Matt Ramos then closed out the dual with his own technical fall at 106, by a score of 18-2.
